Introduction
As noted on the homepage (apologies for any redundancy but some matters bear repeating), Sapodesk is a reflection of the strength, commitment and generosity of its members, so whether you’re a highly skilled programmer or a casual contributor, we encourage you to join the Sapodesk community. You can engage in development by writing code, designing interfaces and other graphical components, translating text into other languages or simply by using our services. In the end, no contribution is too small and all members of the Desktoptwo and Computadora.de communities are welcome.
More Detailed Description
By liberating all of the code and content behind Desktoptwo and Computadora.de, we at Sapotek are providing you the opportunity to work with us, learn from us and, most important, teach us and everyone else about the limitless potential of the web as a platform for computing. While you are free to work with us in improving the web apps and services that appear on Desktoptwo and Computadora.de (which, as you know, are free for all to use), you are by no means obligated to do so nor are you limited in any other regard (other than the limits of your own knowledge and/or patience). Ultimately, you may download the apps and content found on Sapodesk and create your own desktop with whichever applications you choose so long as you adhere to the Code of Conduct (honor over fear, that is) and abide by the appropriate free software licenses that govern the code or content. Just as the Internet is boundless, so too is this community so please take a few moments to learn from this Guide about how to participate in Sapodesk, take advantage of its offerings and share the wealth.
Join Sapodesk
To join Sapodesk, you must first sign up for one of our free services, the online desktops Desktoptwo or Computadora.de. We require this so that, as a contributor, you have a good sense of how we develop/design our web apps and because there are numerous links between Sapodesk and the forums found on those sites.
Having signed up for one (or both, if you like) of the free services, all you have do to is register for Sapodesk, which you may do by clicking here Register for Sapodesk
Once registered, you may now take full advantage of all that Sapodesk has to offer, such as submitting new projects or working on existing ones.
How do I begin?
Sapodesk is a free software community in which you can:
Create new applications or contribute to existing projects (Code)
Create interfaces and other graphical images (Design)
Translate applications into your language (Translation)
Contribute documentation to a given application (Documentation)
Download a project (this is, after all, a free software community)
This User Guide will provide a basic overview of Sapodesk and hopefully enable you to participate in a meaningful way in the community.
Should you require additional information, you are always free to communicate with us (Sapotek) by sending an email to: kip@sapodesk.org or by seeking help from another member of the community, which is often the better option.
Download Project
To download a project, simply go to the Projects section of the site. There you will find a list of “All Projects” currently on Sapodesk. By clicking on any one of the projects you will see the project details, the current version and a brief description of the project. You will also see a “Download” button that will allow you to download the project for your own use.
Please be aware that all projects are subject to one of two free software licenses and therefore do not include any warranties.
